Triware Networld Systems, a leading Information Technology network
service and support provider, today announced the completion of its
installation of San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s new campus IT
network infrastructure. The new network is ready for multi-media content
running at multi-gigabit speeds. Triware Networld Systems worked with
SFCM’s internal IT staff and the campus’ builders designing and
installing its new network which includes a state-of-the-art Virtual
Local Area Network (VLAN) using Hewlett Packard’s latest layer 3
switches with over 12 subnets and the ability to support several
hundreds of devices running at gigabit speed.
“When we started this project we wanted to ensure that the new campus
was outfitted with the most effective and efficient network we could
provide but also we were mindful of their future growth,” said Benson
Yeung, senior partner for Triware Networld Systems, L.L.C. “We believe
the infrastructure we have installed positions the school nicely for
future IT expansion services.”
“We have been working with Triware Networld Systems for over five
years and we knew that they would work closely with our builders to
ensure that our new campus was equipped with only the best IT network
features,” stated Jeff Fisher, IT manager for SFCM. “Additionally with
Triware Networld Systems’ 24x7 monitoring service (Service & Support
Operation Center or SSOC) we feel confident that our system will perform
without any problems.”
SFCM’s new $80 million facility has a total of 8 floors and the
network was designed with future expansion and fail-prove in mind for
each of the floors. In anticipation of the new move Triware Networld
Systems working with SFCM’s IT staff phased out and consolidated SFCM’s
older servers over the past few years. The company worked with SFCM’s
internal IT staff and the builders to design the network that would be
ready for the multi-media content running at multi-gigabit speeds. The
new campus network is set up with state of art VLAN (Virtual Local Area
Network) using HP's latest layer 3 switches with over 12 subnets and the
abilities to support several hundreds of devices running at gigabit
speed. The school’s old server platform (Windows 2000 Active Directory)
was changed to a new Windows 2003 Active Directory and Exchange 2003.
Triware Networld Systems also set up EMC's IP SAN and a new backup
autoloader to significantly expand the storage capacity of the school
for their ever increasing demand for the digital storage. A centrally
managed print server was also set up to allow staff to maintain and
support many printing devices with ease. This also gives staff the
ability to utilize advanced printing features such as printer pooling
and to move printers from location to location without needing to re-set
them up. Plans for redundant Internet connections and firewalls are also
in place to be implemented in the very near future so that the school
can provide higher shared bandwidth and automatic fail-over should one
of the Internet Service Providers goes down.
